I smell something FISHY!!

While i was doing my regular blog browsing sessions, i stumbled upon this blog which i find very interesting with his unique style of writing. I could so tell that he'd be a much more interesting guy in person.

Anyhow, there was this one post of his that really moved me. It has been awhile since i last came across such a meaningful article online, magazines or any other mediums for that matter.

As cliche' as it sounds, it was about love... gosh, looking at my blog title, u should be expecting this post coming already..

So, he said something along these lines:

Love is not all about poetries, chocolates and flowers...
but it is the thoughtful mundane routine that is done to make your loved one happy.

And so, it was about his dad whom had this weekly routine of buying fish for his wife to cook. I know, you guys may think why fish for love? haha..the author is a chicken person by the way..

Every Saturday mornings he would rise up and head to the morning market alone without being told to do so by his wife. All he needed to know was what his wife wants to cook for that day, and he'll do all the shopping.

One early morning, as the author had forcefully volunteered( I'm quoting him) to follow his dad to the market, he did not learn a single bit about fish which his dad had constantly been feeding him with.. His dad said to him that how is he gonna marry someone if he doesn't know how to buy a good fish? and as predicted, he did take it lightly and forgot all about the fish info inputs earlier on..

Little did he know that his dad had more planned for him for their return from the market.
He might have probably been dreaming of catching back up with his sleep, but

NOoooo.....

His dad made him listen and help him clean the gooeeyy, smelly market fish pulak..

Not only did his dad go and buy the fish at the smelly market on his weekend morning (where he could have resorted to just stay in bed), but he did all the dirty work of cleaning the fish up so that all his wife had to do was to just cook the fish for the family.

His dad may or may not have said all the mushy i love you-s, but his actions did shout it all more than words could. The best part is, it is not just a 1 day thing. It is his routine.. It's continuous. It's his constant flow of love....

Years later did the author realize what his dad unintendedly wanted to show him was his earnest love for his wife....

..and the author still remains a chicken person as he never understood the need of susah-susah clean the fish..

Which reminds me so much of my dad... He would do the grocery shopping with his girls on the weekends and if he sees something then he would call my mom if she wants it or he would say something like,' tanya mak engkau, dia nak tak?' that kind of thing...

Even for weddings, dinners, functions, usually the men and ladies would help themselves on the food served, but my dad will take all my mom's favourites for her so that she wouldn't have to move about so much with the heels on. All she had to do was sit, loook pretty and eat!!

In whatever thing that my dad does, he will always ingat my mom..makan pun, before we piranhas finish eating, he would say 'eh , mak eng-kau dah rasa belum?' If she is upstairs, he would call her down or bring it up for her to eat...even if dah tengah-tengah malam and we girls pun dah tidur, he would wake us up to eat the tapau-ed food he bought..

HERE: is the link of the blog i was talking about. He had described it in a better way of course.Funny guy:)

To my beloved WAN

This Wan,was the one who thought me how to eat nasi lemak, by mixing the sambal first

The Wan who gives me a whole plastic bag of rambutans

The Wan that thought me how to bake, encouraged me to drive, supported me on my way of becoming a 'cover girl'.

The Wan that drives me to and from college, accompanied me on the evening walks back from school. Treated me ice cream Malaysia during my childhood years.

The Wan that stayed up late with me during my SPM months. (Whom had to pee 10 times a night after drinking the coffee we experimented on.)

The Wan that dates the Pak cik jual kuey teow in uptown every Friday night.

The Wan that was stalked by the guy who was chasing after me...(I'm sorry, i know you were so freaked out)

The Wan that could not live without my navigation on roads:)

The Wan that lost her toes for the walking club, which has officially been abandoned..(No worries, she grew them back!)

To my dear beloved,

WAN SYAZMIN binti WAN MOKHTAR,
HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY!

I've enjoyed the decade+2 years that we've known each other. I treasure the ups and downs we've been thru together. The fights, the love, the care, the gossips, the insults and every single bits of it. I lap u!!!

Traffic light!

Green
, Yellow, and...Red!

Imagine...

a lady in a hot, black, pencil cut skirt, hair tied up into a bun, black framed glasses and hot red lipstick walking pass YOU!

That's how movies usually portray secretaries, receptionists and.... timekeepers???

Ha..ha..

Unfortunately, I wasn't dressed as the girl described,..BUT! I was the timekeeper for CUCMS toastmaster Demo:)

It was so cool!
I know, i stumbled a little while explaining my role...
Well, i was nervous..hehe..
n the lights just had to go against me when i was trying to demonstrate its functions..

but heck, i'm a Goooood timekeeper!

YAY ME!!! k,k,k,.....i know, i know... I shall not 'syok sendiri'

Anyhow, congratulations ALIA and the committee involved. Even if we don't set up an official club, I'm sure we'll do something along those lines..

I'm TOASTING for you:)

Oh NO!! NO!! NO!! NO!!

Oh NO!! I've lost my purse..I've searched my bag, went to surau, went back to foundy, check my bag again...Still it isn't there..

The only place i went to with my purse, was only the surau n foundy.
Not again! the last time i lost my handphone was in the surau..
Ape la org2 ni.. dlm surau pun nak mencuri.

So, as i was having a monologue session with myself,
there was this lady which had just completed her prayer came to me and asked:

'hilang dompet ye?'

'Ya'( with my muka yg sedih menagih simpati tu)

'Oh tadi ada org jumpa. Cuba tanya the management. Rasanya tadi dia pulangkan dekat mereka'

"Ye?"(dgn mata yg bersinar dgn harapan)
Terima Kasih ye:)'

Keliling la aku cari the management.. Dgn hujan2 pulak tu..very the drama!
Dugaan la katakan..

In the end dah tanya berapa ramai peniaga di situ..jumpa la..
Bila dah jumpa, the abg jaga tu pun buat muka blur..

'Dompet?'

'Ye bang, dompet. Dompet hitam"

'hmmmm...siapa nama? Wan Alina.'

'IC no?'

ALAMAK...blur sekejap..Ape ar number IC aku pun tak ingat.
Time time mcm ni la,aku boleh lupa..haih..

So pause...coo coo..
Okay,okay, dah ingat dah
So it's--------------

'Okay. Nah'

'thank u bang:)'

So, hari ini saya rasa sgt bertuah walaupun terpaksa mandi hujan dgn baju pula jadi jarang..
Nasib baik ada lab coat ambil kat kereta qila...

...dan....

  1. tepaksalah ditanya oleh org ramai, ada lab ke lepas ni?
  2. Even Sharon, of all people yg suka pakai lab coat for no reason asked me.
  3. Sempat pulak tu abg jual bag kat luar kata:

'Hah ni bakal nurse ni'

'Eh,eh tak la..ni bakal dentist ni, said the other guy..
nanti abg dtg kat klinik, kasi abg student price ye.."

(since i was helping kak tiqa bargain a bag for a student price..
erghh, kenakan aku balik la pulak pak cik ni)

So, saya yekan je la..

Hence,

I am the luckiest person on earth!
Okay...probably just for today...
Or.. maybe not the luckiest, but ONE of the LUCKIEST:)

Saya suka MR. ERIC:)

Mr. Eric was so cute today:)

Scene 1
Kak Nik: Mr. Eric sihat?

Mr. Eric: Sihat....pause.. sihat, WALAFIAT:)

All the girls started going WOOAAHH!!

After a few seconds.....

Alia turned to face me and asked,'what does walafiat means?'

Me: hmmm...never thought of it la pulak.
(The last time i heard or seen it was in my karangan BM in high school dulu..)

So, it went silent for a bit... coo..coo.. kricket..kricket...

On the way back home, it came across my mind again so i went to see Kak Tiqa n asked her the same question Alia asked me. Rupa-rupanya, it means something like 'dalam keadaan sejahtera' or something like that ar..

I then realized how often we take things for granted and it is such a shame to not appreciate things that are infront of us. Things that we commonly use or say.
Hence, i had to relearn it from someone else this time..haih:(

Scene 2:(before scene 1 ended)

Mr Eric: Class, i have 2 surprises for u today. You want to hear the good news or the bad news first?

Class: Bad news!!

Mr. Eric: Ok, bad news is we have a quiz today. So do u want to start a revision or the new chapter?

Class: Revision!!!....So, yadee,yadee,ya...

Me: Haloo.... the good news???

Mr. Eric: Yadee,yadee,ya....bla..bla...bla... Oh ya,the good news, u can call ur friends outside who came in late to join us now.

Me: What?!?!!? damn disappointed already...That's not good news at all!!! ARGGHHH:(
So, I sat at my place quitely...:(

After the revision we had our quiz followed by a short 5 min break. So, i've decided to go to photostat some notes at Miso. The lady got confused herself on how to work the machine but what the heck la, i waited n waited ...Then, ALAMAK, NANTI KENA KUNCI PINTU!!

In my heart, cepatla, cepatla,cepatla..while pacing around..Once the lady was done, i quickly ran back to the hall...YUP! I was late indeed.. don't know one of the guys said,

HAH!LAMBAT!! Arghh... suka je kenakan orang tau..

I apalagi?senyum je la..hoping that i'll lepas this time...turns out. I didn't miss anything. They've just started distributing the 2nd surprise which is..................

CHOCALATE!!!!! I HEART YOU MR. ERIC!!!HEHE...

HE so COMEL:)

KERIAK KERIUK...perutku berbunyi??

Duhai perut, mengapakah engkau bermasalah sangat?
haih.. penat aku menjagamu sejak dulu kala. Tetapi, mengapakah engkau membelakangi aku, hah??
Dah berbakul bakul buah aku makan, tapi kau masih lapar je...
kadar input lebih drpd output pulak tu..

Wahai perut yang disayangi, bersimpatilah pada penjagamu ini. Jgnlah kau asyik dengar kata mulut yg sentiasa memberikanmu lampu hijau je.
Jadi semua benda kau telan yek..
Janji padaku bahawa dikau tidak akan merengek terlalu kerap.
Sebagai balasan, aku akan memberimu pakaian yg cantek cantek.
Aku tahu kau mahu...hehe..

Maka berhentilah keriak keriuk perutku:)

1 YEAR....

Alhamdulillah, yesterday was my 1 year anniversary of wearing 'tudung'.. How time flies and how much i've learnt through the process. It's not all about looking different, but it is also about how i look at things differently and how others, look back at me. The best part of all, the support and encouragement i've received from friends and family..from the muslims and also the non muslims. Thank you so much for the strength that i was in real need of.

1st April, is also my mom's birthday! I know mom, u're one of the luckiest person on earth to be married to daddy. The opposite applies as well. I heard you had a deeep sleep yesterday. Senang hati la katakan..

55 years of living, i can't imagine on how long i would live, but mother, u have changed a whole lot from the first day i knew u, but then again, i don't believe that children know their parents inside out and vice versa. Most of the time are spent outside of home. In schools, college, malls. Sometimes, friends know u better than families do. BUT, there are also some traits that are reserved only for family members and not for friends to know.

I love you mom, always will, i hope i don't disappoint you more than i already have..

your daughter,
-lina-

GAME OVER

Phew!!! finally, foundation night is over. After months of planning, after all the stress, the sweat, the worry, the criticisms, the meetings, the pimples...

It's FINALLY OVER!!

Only Allah knows, the after taste of it all, but, let me describe to you how exactly it feels.
  1. Relieved
  2. Happy
  3. Sad
  4. Disappointed
  5. Angry
Those are the few roller coaster emotions that I'm riding right now.

Relived
Obviously i am. I've started planning since November 2008! For it to finally end, it is definitely a load of my shoulder. Now, I'll have more time for my bed, my bio slides...(ok,ok,chem slides too..physics?nyek!), my Internet surfing sessions, again, my bed. I think i should write a whole long speech thanking my bed for accepting my rough acts of just throwing myself on it every time after class, before class, only not during class..(for that, I'll have to thank my chair, pulak)

Happy
YAY, Alhamdulillah.. I was awarded as the freshie queen:) Thanks u guys, who have and have not voted for me. To those who have, i hope u don't regret. To those who didn't, i'm sure u have ur reasons why..For my love of fashion, it was really interesting to see how different everyone looks on that night. All dressed up according to creativity. From glamour, to stylish, to sexy...,to pirate??? Kak Nik, turned up as a pirate! aiye, aiye captain!

Disappointed
In myself, in others...

In myself,I should have:
  • Given a DEEEEEPPPP thought on who to choose as a sub leader
  • Brought out the leadership qualities in them
  • Influence people more
  • Have a two way conversation with them. Prompt them to come out with ideas, suggestions, i can't possibly be doing everything.
List goes on.....

In others, (It's always easier to find fault in others):

  • Be more commited
  • Never complaint
  • Smile more
  • initiate instead of just receiving
  • Ask more? politely pls...
  • Do it, because u want to learn & earn the experience( that's y i agreed on it in the first place)
  • Show ur support, a leader is nothing without it's followers.
For god's sake, foundation night is not just my night. It's OUR night. Ask yourselves, what have u guys contributed to this event to make it happen? To what degree have u helped out? DO NOT, say that others didn't even contribute at all. This is every one's responsibility! What right do u guys have in attending, of enjoying, without contributing? Shame on you! or, is it all just for the end of school grades?

What did I earn from this?

  • I know who to choose in my team next time
  • I learn from experience. Next time, I'll do it better
  • Friends..:)
  • A rose from the waiter?
  • Criticisms more than congratulations:(

Angry

I have submitted the itinerary months ago, but it has not been looked through by the lecturer in charge. How pissed! In just ONE day, about THREE days before the event, she started changing it all.

Performer: Sekarang baru nak cari performances!

Me: mana tak nye, the audition has been opened, but how many came? ONLY TWO! n HALOOO, it was opened a lot earlier,okay..

Sad
I sacrificed my night, my seat at the audience( with the best view) ,my dinner, to get ONLY DESTRUCTIVE criticisms..

I need TONNES of love pls...

I saved this for the last...
I wanna thank those who helped me n supported me all way through..words r not enough but it is the least i could do. They are:

  1. Icad & Eka, thank u for the FULL commitment u guys showed in becoming an MC. U both have prepared well, executed well, n saved the night. It was a great pleasure to work with u guys as u guys showed the good traits of a follower n also a leader. Thanks for the support
  2. Kamarul... for the sleepless nights in preparing the multimedia presentation. Even when it was told to be done at the very last minute. I will always be here if u need my help in return. Even if i'll have to bid my bed goodbye:(
  3. Putri, for accepting me into ur house as a guest. To tumpang siap and mandi for the night. It was really fun dressing u up, even Melvin said u look prettier than normal..hehe..u're welcome:)
  4. To my commitee, F.A.C.T. ,to those who had participate directly or indirectly, a bit or a lot, it could not have happened without all of u!
  5. My mom n sister, for handling my dress when i was away..
  6. Last but not least, Harmeet. My assistant. For picking up where i have misssed, for handling things while i was at camp, for letting me know u better..
